[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] Midwest Life Team - Non-injury incidentDATE 08/03/2005 1600 CDT PROGRAM Midwest Life Team VENDOR Own part 135 ADDRESS 3512 North Webb Road Wichita KS, 67226 WEATHER Clear. Not a factor AIRCRAFT_TYPE Bell 206 TAIL# N45EA TEAM Pilot, Flight Nurse, Flight Paramedic. No injuries reported. Patient on board. DESCRIPTION Upon landing at recieving facility helipad, crew noticed increased smoke from engine exhaust and pilot noticed fluxuating oil pressures begining during cool down period. The pilot immediately shut down the aircraft and notified maintenence. Initial inspection revealed restricted flow at the engine oil sump return line due to carbon build-up, which caused oil to be forced into the combustion section, increasing the normal level of smoke output from the exhaust. Maintenance serviced the engine and returned the aircraft to service.
