[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] - NoticeDate: April 1, 2006 Notice: On the morning of April 1st, 2006, an individual was granted access to a shared hanger at a University of Michigan Survival Flight satellite base in Livingston County Michigan. The individual stated that he was an ?A&P mechanic for a King Air? (multiple company/vendor aircraft are hangered at this site). While the crew was performing the morning checks of the helicopter, it was noted that the ELT had been activated. The individual who had presented himself as a mechanic exited the building and was noted to be sitting in his car observing the crew on the ramp while performing their morning checks. When approached, this individual again stated he was an ?A&P mechanic? and was ?interested in helicopters?. He then drove away. A license plate number was noted and a report was immediately filed with the Sheriffs Department in the County. Subsequent evaluation of the aircraft by the pilot, mechanic and flight crew failed to reveal any damage to the aircraft, however the throttle was not in the "off" position. This same individual was later recalled as having presented himself two days prior to the incident asking for a tour of the helicopter. The Univeristy of Michigan police department and Livingston county Sheriff will be following up.
