Air Trek Air Ambulance - Non-injury incident

Date: 05/24/2006 0130

Program: Air Trek Air Ambulance; Punta Gorda, FL

Type: IAI West Wind 1124
Operator/Vendor: Own 135

Weather: Clear. Not a factor

Team: 2 Pilots, 2 Flight Nurses, 1 Flight Physician. No injuries reported. Patient on board.

Description:
During flight the aircraft experienced an electrical malfunction. The
pilots declared an emergency and were required, due to the nature of
the malfunction, to land at the nearest airport. ATC directed the
aircraft the closest airport, which was the Exuma Airport in the
Bahamas, however, they were not able to have the runway lights turned
on before landing. This resulted in a hard landing with the aircraft
going off the end of the runway.

Additional Info:
The flight team moved the patient to a local clinic and provided care
until another aircraft arrived. Once the second aircraft arrived the
patient was transported to their intended destination without further
	incident.
