They completed the landing gear will not extend checklist. After performing many other checks they felt confident it was an indication problem. They conferred with maintenance and the chief pilot and the aircraft diverted to Rochester, MN. The Rochester airport was chosen due to its longer and wider runways, 24 hour crash fire and rescue services, and appropriate medical care for the patient. An uneventful landing was performed at the Rochester airport. The patient was transported via helicopter to the destination hospital in St. Paul, MN. Post flight inspection confirmed the landing gear were functioning normally and the landing gear indicator lights were malfunctioning due to a loose wire behind the instrument panel.
