[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] UW Med Flight - Fatal accidentDate: 5/10/08 2245 cst Program: UW Med Flight E5/770 CSC 600 Highland Ave Madison, WI 53792 Type: EC-135 T2 Tail #: N135UW Operator/Vendor: Air Methods Weather: Calm, 8 miles, light rain, few clouds at 1,400 agl, overcast at 5,000 agl Injuries: Steve Lipperer, Pilot - fatal Mark Coyne, Flight Nurse - fatal Darren Bean, Flight Physician - fatal Description: After refueling at the La Crosse airport, the aircraft departed for Madison, WI at 22:34. No patient was onboard. Contact was lost with the aircraft and The PAIP was immediately activated. A ground search was initiated at 23:04. The initial search was suspended at 02:00 due to darkness and weather. The wreckage of the aircraft was found 09:00 the next morning, 4.5 miles SE of the airport. There were no survivors. Source: M.
