[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] Airlift Northwest - Non-injury incidentDate: 09/08/2008 21:20 PDT Program: Airlift Northwest 6987 Perimeter Road South Suite 110 Seattle, WA 98108 Type: Agusta Power Tail #: N1UM Operator/Vendor: Air Methods Weather: Clear. Not a factor Team: Two Pilots - Training Mission. No injuries reported. No patient. Description: During a local area familiarization flight into the Providence Hospital, Pacific Campus, in Everett, Washington, for a new Air Methods pilot, the Airlift Agusta Power's tail rotor made contact with an air conditioning control unit adjacent to the helipad. Following the contact the aircraft was safely landed without further incident nor injury to either pilot. No Airlift nursing personnel were aboard the aircraft. Air Methods safety personnel were dispatched and the aircraft was evaluated by maintenance personnel. A replacement tail rotor was installed on September 12th and the aircraft was subsequently placed back into service on September 13th. Air Methods is performing a root cause analysis of the incident.
