Not a factor Team: Pilot, Flight Nurse, Flight Paramedic. No injuries reported. Patient on board. Description: At approximately 1614 EST 01/05/09, while in flight on an interfacility transport the pilot noticed both a FADEC fail caution light and a FADEC fail audio alarm. The pilot elected to land the aircraft in an open parking lot. After safely landing the aircraft, local EMS arrived and the patient was transported to the destination hospital via ground ambulance. There was no damage to the aircraft. Maintenance inspected the aircraft and found that the HMU had malfunctioned. Once it was replaced, the aircraft was returned to service.
