[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] Cal-Ore Life Flight - Non-injury incidentDate: 1-09-2010 7:50 pm PST Program: Cal-Ore Life Flight Box 1986 Brookings, OR 97415 Type: Piper Cheyenne Tail #: N431GW Operator/Vendor: Cal-Ore Weather: Clear. Not a factor Team: Pilot, Flight Nurse, Flight RT. No injuries reported. No patient. Description: Upon descent into Crescent City, Cal. (CEC) at night after returning from an air ambulance mission, a bright green flash was observed inside the cabin by the pilot and medical crew. The flash startled the crew until it was quickly determined that a laser was being pointed at the aircraft from someone on the ground. The flash happended on two occassions as the aircraft entered the pattern for landing. The light was last observed to be searching for the aircraft as a final descent for landing was made at which time the aircraft was too low for the laser to find it. The crew debriefed the flight and incident and were able to pinpoint an approximate location in the rural area from where the laser was generated. A complete report was completed, along with a map depicting where the crew felt the light came from. This report was submitted to the Sheriff's department and they have taken it very seriously and are investigating the incident. This incident has been referred to our Q/M committee for review and follow-up.
