[Date Prev][Date Next][Date Index] University MedEvac - Non-injury incidentDate: 3/31/10 1633 EST Program: University MedEvac 15421 Old State Road Middlefield, OH 44062 Type: EC135P2 Tail #: N586AM Operator/Vendor: Air Methods Corporation Weather: Clear. Not a factor Team: Pilot, Flight Nurse, and Flight Paramedic. No injuries reported. Patient on board. Description: During takeoff from a scene flight, with a patient on-board, the number 1 engine gauges began providing inconsistent warning indications. The Pilot-in-Command (PIC) made corrective changes, per procedure, with inconsistent response by warning system lights. The PIC then placed the number 1 engine into idle, per emergency procedures, and performed an immediate landing at the nearby airport. ATC was alerted prior to landing and the communication center was alerted as well. PIC made a run-on landing at the airport with no injury to patient or crew or damage to aircraft. Ground EMS arrived and transported the patient to the nearest trauma center, along with the air medical crew. Maintenance was alerted and arrived to inspect the aircraft. Number 1 engine was replaced and the aircraft was returned to service without further event.
